Behold the Power of Chili

This Saturday (March 7) at noon, intrepid Brownstone patrons will face off in our semi-annual Chili Cook Off. For this event, we’ll be raising money for Alder Health Services, an organization dedicated to providing the LGBTQ+ community with vital healthcare and wellness services.

How can you participate?

If you wish to compete, simply bring a crockpot of of your favorite (or crazy, experimental) chili into the Brownstone this Saturday at noon.

If you don’t want to cook, but love to eat, we need you too! Bring your appetite and buy a taste, cup or bowl of a variety of chilis.

Each chili contestant will be enticing you to try their chili in an attempt to raise the most money. Should you get the urge, you’re also welcome to throw in a few extra bucks for Alder Health too.

Trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories (first place for most money raised, spiciest, most unique, etc.).

All money raised in the chili cook off will go to support Alder Health programs.

What can a bowl of chili do?

Your chili contributions will support the vital work that Alder Health provides for the LGBTQ+ community, including:

Health Services

Alder provides primary care and pharmacy services in a stigma-free environment, including health, referral, and education services that promote LGBTQ+ health, access to care, and equity.

HIV + STD Testing

Alder was founded during the AIDS Crisis and continues to play a vital role in providing HIV and STD screenings, treatment, education, and awareness programs.

Behavioral Health

There’s a focus on mind and body at Alder with services including counseling for individuals, couples, and families; psychiatric services, and support for the transgender community during transitioning.

Wellness

With a focus on preventative care and ongoing healthy lifestyle, the Alder Wellness Center offers fitness classes, yoga, weights, as well as education programs on nutrition, financial literacy, and more.
